King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) organizes interdisciplinary
collaborative research teams of faculty and students, without regard to disciplinary
boundaries, across three academic divisions:
- Chemical and Life Sciences and Engineering
- Mathematical and Computer Sciences and Engineering
- Physical Sciences and Engineering
KAUST offers two graduate programs:
- The
M.S. degree, which will typically require eighteen months to complete.
- The
Ph.D. program, which requires three or four years, involves original research
that culminates in a dissertation.
Degrees are offered in nine fields of study:
- Applied Mathematics and Computational Science
- Bioscience
- Chemical and Biological Engineering
- Computer Science
- Earth Science and Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Environmental Science and Engineering
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
KAUST's academic environment is designed to prepare
students for successful careers at the University and afterwards:
- Students and faculty researchers will work with, and have access to, partners
from the Global Collaborative Research program, which includes the Academic Excellence
Alliance, KAUST Industrial Collaboration Program, and the Global Research Partnership,
on special research projects.
- Courses at KAUST are taught in English. This helps to ensure that credits are
accepted by and interchangeable with degree programs at other universities around
the world.
- Students will have the opportunity to participate in winter enrichment sessions
on such topics as culture, language, writing, and career development.
- Students will work directly with world-class KAUST faculty and have access to
state of the art facilities and equipment.
